Good Formula One Appeal
The 2014 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix will be doing it for the kids following the appointment of The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal as its Official Charity.
The Good Friday Appeal has a long and proud history with Australians continuing to donate generously to help save the lives of sick children since 1931. Money raised goes towards funding research and medical equipment to ensure treatment at The Royal Children’s Hospital remains world class.
During the 2014 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix motorsport fans will be able to donate to the Good Friday Appeal at a variety of fundraising activities.
Good Friday Appeal Executive Director Deborah Hallmark is thrilled the organisation has been picked as the Official Charity for the 2014 Albert Park race.
“We are always looking for new and unique ways to fundraise for the Royal Children’s Hospital,” Hallmark said.
“This is a great opportunity for our organisation to be part of a global event, while also engaging the local community.
“Our strength lies in the thousands of volunteers who give their time, expertise and creativity, and we know that they will be warmly received by Grand Prix race goers.”
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott welcomes the Good Friday Appeal to the Grand Prix family.
“The Australian Grand Prix Corporation is privileged to be working with the amazing people behind The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal and we are determined to help them raise as much money as possible,” Westacott said.
“We are expecting more than 300,000 people at the 2014 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix, and with millions tuning in globally to the broadcast, it presents the Good Friday Appeal with a rare opportunity to reach a large scale international audience.”
The community will have the opportunity to give back on Thursday March 13 at Community Day, where General Admission will be free. Patrons will be encouraged to make a gold coin donation to The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal at the gates.
The V8 Supercars, one of the support categories at the event, will be on-track all four days, from March 13 to 16. Tickets are available now.
