One of the most unnerving and potentially dangerous factors that drivers face when towing is trailer sway. The characteristics of trailer sway can be influenced by poor weight distribution, tyre pressure, towing speed and suspension, but commonly trailer sway is caused by strong cross winds and wind buffets from large vehicles such as trucks and buses.

Complete sway control can be obtained at Pedders by fitting a Hayman Reese sway controller. Hayman Reese sway controllers are designed to be used in conjunction with a weight distributing hitch and prevent trailer sway by restricting and damping the movement between the tow hitch and the trailer. Sway controllers are not suitable for use with trailers fitted with older surge or override trailer braking systems

Two models of Sway Controllers from Hayman Reese are available through Pedders Suspension:

Friction sway control from Hayman Reese
Restricts the movement between Tow vehicle and trailer to effectively counteract sway using a unique friction action, easily adjusts to compensate for varying trailer weights and towing conditions.

Can also be used in tandem with dual cam sway control for optimum towing safety. Suits ball loads from Zero kg upwards.


Dual Cam Sway Control From Hayman Reese
Designed to keep your caravan and car in a straight line at cruising speed on the highway and under control when sway might develop due to passing trucks, high cross winds, or wheels running off the road edge.

This unit performs superbly owing to years of research and development prior to introduction. Road tested over rough, rugged terrain and virtually everywhere a caravan or trailer could go. Suits ball loads over 160kg.
