When Load Carrying a vehicle has reduced compression travel in the suspension resulting in reduced bump stop clearance. The load carrying vehicle may also suffer from a change in suspension geometry affecting the wheel alignment thus resulting in increased tyre wear & fuel consumption. Ride comfort, traction, handling, steering and braking efficiency can all be adversely affected.
Pedders Suspension recommends the fitment of upgraded suspension components along with a specialist 2 or 4 wheel alignment. This will restore a vehicles ride height, comfort, stability, safety and handling under all loads.
Pedders Heavy Duty Coil Springs
Pedders heavy duty replacement coil springs improve the Load Carrying ability while maintaining high levels of comfort and control. We offer a range of EXTRA HEAVY DUTY replacement coils for the heaviest loads and “raised” height coils for extra ground clearance, or to compensate for the loss of ride height when Load Carrying larger trailer loads.
Pedders Suspension Shocks for
Load Carrying
Pedders has shock absorbers rated to match heavy duty springs for most applications. Pedders Suspension has a range of Gas Shocks that maintain superior comfort levels while providing that extra level of suspension control needed when Load Carrying.
Pedders Leaf Spring Packs
Pedders Suspension has a variety of replacement leaf spring packs for a wide range of 4WD & 2WD vehicles designed specifically for Load Carrying applications. Pedders replacement leaf spring packs are durable whilst providing improved vehicle control and stability due to the fact that they feature redesigned spring rates.
A number of these packs have a 2 stage design which provides a comfortable ride when un-laden whilst minimising height loss when load is applied.
Pedders offer full replacement Trak Ryder leaf spring packs that feature inter-leaf friction pads and metal eye sleeves to minimise binding or noise. They are constructed from only the highest grade steels for the most durable performance.
Pedders Suspension Bushes
Suspension bushes play a critical role in load carrying safety, ride comfort and handling. They are used to position and align suspension and steering components such as shock absorbers, sway bars, torsion bars and control arms. All but the hardest bushes also help absorb road shocks and enhance comfort, while some are designed specifically to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).
As such, bushes must always be maintained in optimum condition. Worn bushes can cause rapid tyre wear, loose or pulling steering and can affect braking and safe handling.
To perform its intended role, a bush must be able to compress, but to a precise degree, and then return to its original position. If a bush is too hard, too soft, or damaged in any way, the ride, handling and safety of a vehicle is compromised.
Bushes are made from a number of different types of materials, including rubber, urethane and synthetic rubber compound. Each type is chosen for a particular application based on a number of characteristics, including its general performance, feel and response characteristics, noise and durability. By upgrading original suspension bushes to superior aftermarket units like those designed for specific purposes like load carrying, a vehicle’s general handling or its ability to perform in load carrying conditions can be dramatically improved.
Load Carrying with Air Bags
Another form of load assistance springs are Air Springs, one of the most popular and effective ways of improved Load Carrying ability. By inflating the air bags, you can increase the spring rate and help to maintain the ride height of the vehicle.
Air Springs improve load carrying ability, compensate for minor rear sag, general instability associated with heavy load carrying and restrict bottoming out caused by carrying heavy loads or driving on rough terrain. Air Springs also increase shock life, improve braking and reduce body roll.
Pedders Suspension recommend replacement springs be installed where springs are sagged more than 10mm. Fitting auxiliary air springs to compensate for majorly sagged coil or leaf springs will result in a harsh ride.
Pedders Torsion Bars
All torsion bars may look much the same, but because they perform exactly the same function as coil and leaf springs, they must also be rated to match the total suspension system and the weight of the vehicle. Pedders Trak Ryder torsion bars are made to a larger diameter than most original bars, providing a stronger rate for greater control, stability and improved load carrying ability. Pedders’ Trak Ryder torsion bars are heavy-duty replacement units that provide a permanent upgrade for the front suspension.
