Pedders 4 Wheel Alignment for Load Carrying Vehicles

Load Carrying Brakes

Load Carrying can dramatically change the ride height of a tow vehicle.  The load carrying vehicle should be adjusted for normal ride height or correct ride height and levelled as the attitude of the vehicle affects wheel alignment. This of course may be undertaken with the fitment of new springs, airbags, uprated shocks or other like load carrying and towing solution suspension parts. Change in attitude is due to load distribution and ride height at each wheel.  There is no such thing as a 2 wheel alignment in this modern age, all current generation machines are designed to perform a wheel alignment and balancing encompassing all four wheels. A wheel alignment should be done with a normal load applied to the load carrying  vehicle, but, unless specified by the manufacturer, not with the driver in the cabin. It is common practice for some of our customers to have a wheel alignment undertaken on the load carrying vehicle with an applied load still inside the vehicle – this is common practice for wagons and light commercials and utes.  This helps our wheel alignment technicians to provide our customers with a more accurate wheel alignment, at a fraction of the cost!

It’s also very important to have the right Pedders Load Carrying Solution fitted to your load carrying vehicle to begin with. Always consider the fact that most suspension angles change through normal suspension travel in most vehicle. A wheel alignment specific for load carrying may need to be changed once your load is removed. Regular load carrying requires a suitable suspension upgrade. The best place to start with this of course is to contact your local Pedders Suspension outlet.

A correct wheel alignment will:

  • Offer greater stability in a straight line
  • Offer greater stability during cornering
  • Reduce suspension wear and tear
